Seaside Police Kept Busy on 4th of July

This 4th of July kept Seaside Police very busy answering one hundred twelve (112) calls between 8am on July 4th to 8am on July 5th. Between 8pm on the 4th to 8am on the 5th officers handled seventy-one (71) calls.
Some of those calls for service included five animal complaints, six parking complaints, four traffic complaints, seventeen disturbances, and five lost children. Officers cited nineteen people for minor in consumption/possession of alcohol, four for Disorderly Conduct, served 3 warrants, arrested four for DUII, and arrested two for Assault IV related to domestic disputes. During one of those arrests, an officer sustained an injury above his left eye and was taken to Providence Seaside Hospital where he was treated and released. The suspect, Christopher C. Martin, age 45 of Seaside was arrested for Assault IV, Assault on Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Interfering with a Police Officer. He was transported to the Clatsop County Jail awaiting arraignment.
In addition to responding to calls, officers handled over twenty fireworks related complaints from throughout the night and early morning. According to the graveyard supervisor, things did not quiet down until around 5am on July 5th.
The Seaside Police department was assisted during the 4th of July by two officers from the Cannon Beach Police Department, a Reserve Officer from Warrenton Police Department, two jail staff from the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office, and three officers from the Oregon Liquor Control Board.
